Blundellsands Mother Sets Up Charity After Cancer Battle 2009: Mother Die

Blundellsands mother sets up charity after cancer battle

A MOTHER who thought she would die from bowel cancer is urging people to get checked out.
She had unknowingly had cancer for two years and was told she would need an operation within weeks. Doctors said if it had been left any longer, it would have been too late to operate. She had three operations to have the tumour and part of her bowel removed and spent three and a half months in hospital, followed by six months of chemotherapy, which finished in April last year.. The single mother said it was worse for her daughter, Lauren, 15, and the rest of the family who felt “powerless”. Kim, who is now cancer free, said: “There was a point where I thought I was going to die. It was very frightening but I think it was more frightening for her. She was very brave. “Had I left it for a matter of a another month it would have been a very different story. It was lucky that the doctor at Aintree Hospital was very switched on.”
Lauren, a Stretham House pupil, said: “I was just worried. She was in hospital for months and I was just constantly making sure that everything was ok.
