Brookdale department to raise scholarship funds for African health

It’s an auction unlike others: The proceeds will go directly to scholarships for deserving health science students from nations torn apart by war, genocide,
terrorism and extreme poverty. Students and faculty from Brookdale Community College’s Radiologic Technology department invite the community to join them at the Lincroft main campus, Saturday, May 30. Doors at the Warner Student Life Center open at 6:00 the auction starts at 7:30.The event continues until 9:00 p.m. In addition to an extensive gift basket offering, Currier & Ives prints, art work, paintings, tapestry, a $100 Lowe’s gift card, a GPS navigation system, “dinner for two” certificates and much more will be auctioned. Refreshments will be served. Brookdale Associate Professor and Fulbright Scholar Dr. Terry Konn, Toms River, has taught at the Kigali Health Institute, Rwanda, developing its first formal educational program in medical imaging. “The students and faculty at the Institute are the first generation of health care professionals in Rwanda,” she explained. Brookdale student groups have traveled with Dr. Konnto Rwanda to assist at the Institute as part of the College’s short term international study programs.
