New Canaan’s downtown Design District will host an open house from 6 to 8 p.m.
on Thursday, featuring 20 stores and businesses, which focus on home design, real estate, architecture and fashion. Participating stores will feature presentations, book signings, cooking demonstrations, charity auctions and giveaways, as well as wine and hors d’oeuvres. A grand prize drawing of a two-night stay at the Stone House in Little Crompton, R.I., will be offered at the event, arranged by Athome magazine. Kitchens by Deane, 189 Elm St., will offer the chance to win a gourmet dinner for 12 including food and wine, an $1,800 value. Olympus invests in steel production Olympus Partners, a Stamford-based private equity investor, which manages more than $3.1 billion, has invested $50 million in equity and subordinated debt in Atlas Industrial Services LLC, which through its subsidiary Phoenix Services LLC, provides mill services to the global steel industry. The funding will enable Phoenix Services to continue its rapid expansion, bringing its services to steel mills of global steel manufacturers. Atlas Industrial Services is an affiliate of Greenwich-based Atlas Holdings LLC.
