The Camelot Centre’s Mardi Gras In March event will celebrate the end of a long, hard winter.
A masquerade dinner/dance is planned for Saturday, March 28 from 7-11:30 p. m. at the Burlington Art Centre, 1333 Lakeshore Rd. Costumes are preferred but not required. Activities will include a silent auction, prizes and dancing to the live music of Patrick Tevlin’s New Orleans Rhythm, a Toronto-based jazz quartet. Proceeds from the evening will support programming at Camelot Centre, a non-profit, registered charity. It provides individualized programming for adults over the age of 20 with a diagnosed intellectual disability. Programs include literacy development, life skills, computer education, physical education, social interaction and community involvement. There is still room for a few more students. The centre’s annual budget for fiscal 2008-’09 is $90,000 with its funding coming from fees for service, fundraising and donations it receives no government support. The daily attendance fee for clients is $40. The centre is located at 370 Shoreacres Rd., on the lower level of Shoreacres Bible Chapel. The centre operates Monday to Friday from 8:30 a. m.-3:30 p. m.
