Bob Anthony 24th February 2009 Campdrafting THE region’s best camp-drafters are saddling up again for a worthy cause when the Uki Sporting Horse
Association holds its second annual Campdraft for Cancer next month. Initiated to pay tribute to Uki campdraft legend Kevin ‘Stumpa’ Walsh, who passed away from cancer last year, the inaugural event raised more than $12,000 for the , and this year it looks as though that figure could be beaten. To be held at the Uki sports grounds on Saturday, March 21 and Sunday, March 22, the invitational event will again generate plenty of interest both within the campdrafting community and the general public. Sporting Horse spokesman Alan Boyd said there had been plenty of support for the event, with Tyalgum’s Cloverdale Droughtmaster Stud supplying up to 200 head of cattle for the event. “We saw last year the community coming out to support this worthy cause, and again this year we will have a special family roast dinner night on the Saturday, with the campdrafting on the Sunday,†Boyd said.
“The Saturday night event is open to everyone and we will be offering a country-style three-course meal where all the proceeds will go directly to the Cancer Council.
