Celebrity Chef Wolfgang Puck Is Honorary Chairman Of Five Star 2009: Puck 22

Celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck is honorary chairman of Five Star

Puck, for 22 years the honorary chairman of Five Star Sensation, a benefit held every other year, invites three dozen chefs to cook for
charity. About 1,700 guests will pay $300 to $1,000 to sample their creations Saturday, June 13 at the site of the future Ahuja Medical Center in Beachwood. Chairwoman Carole Carr expects that the event will make $1.5 million. Puck is demanding — all chefs, most from renown restaurants the world ’round have to come to Cleveland to create sumptuous tastings and to talk with benefit guests — part of the allure of Five Star. “I tell them if they send their sous chefs, they won’t be invited back,” he said. But Cleveland’s Five Star is a favorite annual event for many chefs because Clevelanders are nice, Puck added. “I love to come to Cleveland,” he said. “People are most appreciative at this event. They say, ‘Thanks for coming.’ It goes a long way.” See the complete story about Wolfgang Puck and how he and a cadre of 250 local volunteers make the Five Star Sensation happen in Saturday’s Arts & Life section. • Write to: 1801 Superior Ave., Cleveland, OH 44114 • Phone: 216-999-4407
