Charity Bout Hit By Brawl 2009: Charity Boxing

Charity bout hit by brawl

A charity boxing night had to be abandoned after fights broke out between drunken yobs in the crowd.
The sell-out event descended into chaos with only three bouts to go. Stewards stepped in to separate rival gangs at Temple Park Centre in South Shields, and the show was stopped as two young fighters stood ready to box. Police arrived as more trouble erupted in the car park outside. Boxing club coach Steve Lamb said he was bitterly disappointed. “The night was fantastic up until a fight broke out. It’s just disgusting,” he said. The event eventually raised £7,000 for a local hospice and a charity set up to honour a local boy stabbed to death in 2006. Titles
