Sultry jazz vocalist Lauren Roy of Paris will entertain at The Charity of Hope’s first fundraiser on Friday at the Best Western Brant Park
Inn. Proceeds from the event will go to help local children in need. Roy will perform throughout the evening backed by the Tim Turvey trio. Now part of the Montreal jazz scene since moving to the city nearly three years ago, Roy has been playing at a variety of top venues with some of Montreal’s finest musicians. Also at the event will be former Toronto running back and motivational speaker Michael “Pinball” Clemons. There will be a silent and live auction. Doors open at 6 p. m. with dinner at 7 p. m. Tickets are $50 and can be purchased at College Source for Sports on Colborne Street or by e-mail at ART More than 400 pieces of student artwork will be on display at the Glenhyrst Gallery, Old Town Hall in Waterford and the Haldimand Museum in Cayuga until Saturday. The second annual Board Art Exhibit — Outside the Lines — celebrates the talents of staff and students in junior kindergarten through to Grade 12. A video of three of the artists describing the meaning behind and the method of their art is posted on the board’s web-site at . The exhibits are free and open to the public today and Friday from 10:30 a. m. to 3 p. m. and Saturday from 2 p. m. to 4 p. m.
