Childrens Charities Out 11000 After Ticket Forgery 2009: Huntington Beach

Childrens charities out 11000 after ticket forgery

HUNTINGTON BEACH &ndash The forgery of about 200 tickets for one of the city’s largest charity events could leave the children’s department at the
Huntington Beach library and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Huntington Valley out about $11,000, officials say. Tickets for the Taste of Huntington Beach on April 26 were photocopied and fraudulently sold for about $20, event chairwoman Erika Reardon said. Tickets were actually sold for $52 presale and $60 after April 13 and at the door. About 2,000 people attended the event and there was plenty of food for the participants despite the forgery, Reardon said.
The forgery has been reported to the city’s police department, who are investigating, said police spokesman Lt. Russell Reinhart.
