Christus Schumpert Childrens Classic Boasts Quality Group 2009: Eighth Annual

Christus Schumpert Childrens Classic boasts quality group

The eighth annual Christus Schumpert Children’s Classic comes at just the right time for Shreveport golfers Hal Sutton and David Toms.
Both golfers come into today’s event at Southern Trace Country Club playing some of their best golf of the year. Sutton finished tied for 11th at the rain-shortened Regions Charity Classic over the weekend in Hoover, Ala. The finish was his second best this year. Sutton finished third at the Outback Steakhouse Pro-Am on April 19. Toms, who didn’t play the Texas Open over the weekend, finished tied for ninth at The Players Championship in his last event. Sutton and Toms headline a field that includes 2003 PGA champion Shaun Micheel, 13-time Champions Tour winner Jim Thorpe and Keith Fergus, winner of the Regions Charity Classic over the weekend. “We are thrilled and honored to have such a quality group of players,” Sutton said. “They not only work hard to be the best on the golf course, but they are always willing to give of themselves to help this most important cause &mdash providing quality healthcare to children.” Proceeds from the tournament go to support Sutton Children’s Medical Center.
Play at Southern Trace begins today at 11 a.m.
