10:20am Monday 25th May 2009 MOTORING enthusiasts launched their annual classic car run at the Nothe Fort in Weymouth.
The Weymouth Vehicle Preservation Society held the event to promote its 21st Dorset Tour on July 5. The group also used the occasion to mark its 25th year of existence. More than 50 people attended the event with the then Weymouth and Portland Deputy Mayor Anne Kenwood. Society membership secretary Marie Wyatt said that the evening went very well with a great turnout. She added that Coun Kenwood, who is now Mayor of Weymouth and Portland, was very enthusiastic and helpful, as were a group of scouts. Members of the society will be going on their 21st annual tour on July 5. They drive on a 80 mile route around the Dorset countryside before parking up at Lodmoor Country Park in Weymouth.
Proceeds from the charity fundraiser will be in aid of the Scout Fellowship and the Dorchester branch of the ME Society.
