CLIC24 raises 19416355000 for charity

The annual CLIC24 enduro event once again took to the Mendip Hills and over 500 riders braved rain and strong winds to ride a
total of 18,943 miles, in the process raising 55,000 for children’s cancer and leukaemia charity CLIC Sargent. Many riders took part in relay teams on the challenging 10 mile course but over 150 rode solo with some achieving over 20 laps in the wet and muddy conditions. Event organiser Neil Wilkins says: “Considering we had almost every type of weather over the weekend from warm sunshine to bitterly cold rain storms and strong wind the riders have achieved an incredible performance. Each lap helps us raise more money for children suffering with cancer and leukaemia and so their considerable efforts are very much appreciated”. “Having lost my wife to cancer late last year I can full understand the effects that the disease can have on family life and when the mountain biking community come together with such a positive spirit it gives great support to those families who are suffering”. Chris Banting, Regional Fundraising Manager from CLIC Sargent added: “55,000 could help secure another site for a new Home from Home, so that parents do not have to travel miles to take their child for treatment, but stay close by in our home. This illustrates the enormous difference CLIC24 makes to the children and families we serve”.
