COLTS NECK &mdash The Township Committee on Wednesday night advanced a proposal to expand the types of parties Trump National and other golf clubs
can host. A final vote on the measure has been scheduled for Sept. 9. There are five golf courses in the township. Trump National Golf Club’s representatives earlier this year requested amending the golf club ordinances for the two largest courses, but the proposal applies to all five courses. Bowden said Committeemen Kenneth Florek and Edward Eastman met with golf club representatives for suggestions in drafting the ordinance. Ed Russo, project manager for Donald Trump’s golf clubs, said the subcommittee “did an excellent job of bringing together the thoughts of different people on this.” “It’s great news that this is going forward because it allows us to essentially raise greater sums of money for charities,” Russo said. The committee voted unanimously in favor of the changes on the first reading, with Committeeman James Schatzle abstaining because he has done business with golf clubs.
Real estate developer and television personality Donald Trump’s Trump Organization purchased the 350-acre Shadow Isle Golf Club in 2008 for a reported $28 million and renamed the course.
