Courageous Nineyearold Wants You To Join Her In This Year’s Race 2009: Midland Schoolgirl

Courageous nineyearold wants you to join her in this year’s Race

A MIDLAND schoolgirl who ran the Race for Life while fighting her own cancer battle has urged others to lace up their running shoes
and take part in this year’s event. Women across the region are asked to take part in the UK’s largest women-only event by registering to walk, jog or run one of six 5km races being held between May and July. Hannah has already signed up for the first race, which will be held at the National Exhibition Centre on May 24. St Augustine’s School pupil Hannah ran her first Race for Life in 2006, a year after she was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia. Now in remission after undergoing successful treatment at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, she could barely walk for her first event as she was so poorly but still managed to raise more than &pound2,000. “I have finished my cancer treatment and I feel really well now,” Hannah said. “I’m really pleased to be helping to launch Race for Life 2009.
“I hope lots of women and girls hear my story and enter Race for Life as well so we can raise even more money for the scientists to do their work.”
