Duck Race In Kidderminster To Raise Charity Funds 2009: Involved Midland

Duck race in Kidderminster to raise charity funds

Get involved A MIDLAND carnival is set to go quackers with the launch of its annual fund-raising duck race.
Hundreds of townsfolk are expected to line the river banks next weekend as hundreds of yellow rubber ducks race down the waterway for charity, with the backing of Kidderminster Carnival’s queen, 18-year-old Ruth Keenan. Organisers of the carnival, which takes place on June 20, hope the “pre-carnival” event will make a big splash and raise up to &pound1,000 for the refurbishment of Kidderminster Hospital’s cancer treatment suite. The carnival is supporting the &pound150,000 Millbrook Appeal at Kidderminster Hospital as well as raising money for the Severn Area Rescue Association. Ducks will be on sale outside Tesco, at Weavers Wharf, and in the town, priced &pound1 each, and the big race will start at 4pm. There is still time to book a stall at the Brinton Park showground for the carnival. Call Mr Hill on 01562 751634.
