Dwight Howard Really Is Superman 2009: Sweet Gesture

Dwight Howard really is Superman

It was a sweet gesture — but hardly the big man’s first.
In between being a superstar on the courts, he has done more than his share of giving back to the community. Consider: Howard recently gave the $20,000, plus he kicked in $100 Finish Line gift cards to 50 members of the Walt Disney World Branch and personally took them shoe-shopping. He donated $25,000 to the to refurbish the locker room and develop a new photo lab. He also bought laptop computers and video games. He helped build a playground for the , donated another $25 grand to a weekend feeding program for kids at Lake Como Elementary, visits kids in the hospital, meets with military families post-game, and gave $100 Publix gift cards and 100 emergency-preparedness kits to 100 local families at the Christian Service Center. And each game, he gives 160 kids a chance to watch the Magic play through his ticket program, “Friends of Superman.” And we won’t even mention the autographs he gives away to be auctioned for a worthy cause, the charity golf tournaments or the numerous holiday parties with underprivileged children and their families.
Or maybe we will mention them…
