Eagle Grove Native Knutzon Moves On 2009: Rhodes Eagle

Eagle Grove native Knutzon moves on

RHODES – Eagle Grove native Jason Knutzon was one of four players to advance through local U.S.
Open golf qualifying here Monday. Knutzon, a 1994 EGHS graduate and former Fort Dodge Amateur champion, carded an even-par 72 at the Harvester Golf Club. He tied Sean McCarty of Solon – another past FD Am champ – atop the leaderboard. Knutzon, 33, is a professional who makes his home in Altoona and a regular on the Asian Tour. A final-round 65 on Sunday at the Nationwide Tour’s BMW Charity Pro-Am pushed the former Iowa State University standout into the Top-20 at the event in Greer, S.C. In 2003, both Knutzon and McCarty qualified for the U.S. Open in Chicago. Knutzon will participate in the Nationwide Tour’s Rex Hospital Open beginning May 28 in Raleigh, N.C. The U.S. Open sectional round for Knutzon, McCarty and two other Iowans will be next month.
Knutzon won the Fort Dodge Am in 1998 with a record-breaking 54-hole total of 199. Ironically, McCarty tied Knutzon’s mark in the 2006 FD Am.
