The tournament itself begins on Friday and continues on Saturday, with an Awards Ceremony following the conclusion of the tournament Saturday afternoon.
Last year, El Socorro raised $80,000 for operating costs at Ronald McDonald House Charities of Corpus Christi. The house is located behind Driscoll Children’s Hospital and provides a “home away from home” for parents whose children are receiving medical treatment in Corpus Christi. The Ronald McDonald House has served more than 17,000 families since opening in February 1990. An over-the-top party this summer will combine art and fun at the Art Museum of South Texas’ June 26 fundraiser, “ARTrageous TOO! A Spectrum of Color.” The event will feature body art, living art, plenty of entertainment and food from the Corpus Christi Town Club. The popular fashion show from 2006 will return with new clothing, costumes and body art. This year, the evening’s entertainment will include an art sale showcasing several area artists such as Bruno Andrade, Jack Gron, Dennis Kemmerer, Joe Pena, Greg Reuter, Barbra Riley and Maricela Sanchez.
