A FREE fair in Edenbridge showcased green living methods.
The Green Fair on Saturday gave people the opportunity to glean information from the experts in solar power, rainwater storage and energy saving. The event was run by charity Self Unlimited in Philippines Close, off Hever Road, and the charity’s horticultural team manager Penny Plowden said: “It went really, really well. “There were a lot of good quality stalls for people to enjoy. “We were pleased with the turnout and there were quite a few people that came along that had a good awareness of the environment.” Self Unlimited is a national charity that provides a wide range of support services for people with learning disabilities across the country. Facilities at its South East site at Edenbridge comprise housing and training services, as well as The Oak Tree Bistro and Acorns Horticulture Centre, both of which are open to the public. With twin wind turbines, a ground source heat pump, rainwater harvesting system, solar panels and sedum roof, the building fitted the green ethos of the event and Mrs Plowden said she expected the Green Fair to become an annual event.
