Glamorous fashionistas are raiding their wardrobes and donating their favourite dresses to raise money for charity.
Minister Mary Hanafin and Fair City actresses Sorcha Furlong (Orla Kirwan) and Clelia Murphy (Niamh Cassidy) are among the famous faces who have parted with their glitzy gowns for Ireland’s largest charity dress sale in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland. Organisers are hoping to gather more than 1,000 high street and designer dresses, donated by Irish women of all ages and shapes, which will be sold for between &euro30-&euro50 at a one-day Buy My Dress sale next month. Generous Other generous dress donators for the event, which is being supported by Peter Mark, include Xpose presenter Lisa Cannon, successful business woman Amanda Pratt and recording artist Maria Doyle Kennedy as well as some of Ireland’s top magazine editors and models. The hugely awaited sale takes place in the Royal College of Physicians, Kildare St, on Thursday, June 11, from 10am — 9pm and an admission fee of &euro10 will be charged at the door.
