First Fundraiser For Tuckahoe Foundation Held 2009: Tuckahoe School

First fundraiser for Tuckahoe Foundation held

The Tuckahoe Common School District Educational Foundation made $20,000 last month through its inaugural fund-raiser at the Sebonack Golf Club.
Proceeds from the April 24 golf tournament will benefit the district’s students and others. “The mission of the foundation is to give back to the Tuckahoe community at large,” said Linda Rozzi, the school superintendent and chairwoman of the foundation board of directors. The Tuckahoe Foundation was founded in 2007 and hosted its first event in September, the Tuckahoe School’s 75th anniversary celebration, which brought together some of the school’s very first students and some of its very latest. Ms. Rozzi said Sebonack Golf Club owner Michael Pascucci offered the use of his golf course to the Tuckahoe School when they met three summers ago, the year the course opened. But Sebonack was not equipped to host a tournament up until recently, Mr. Pascucci said. The course’s clubhouse, where the reception following the tournament was held, opened in the middle of last summer. “To do an outing for that may people, you really need the facilities,” Mr. Pascucci said. Mr. Pascucci previously donated $10,000 to the Tuckahoe School’s new playground, Ms. Rozzi pointed out.
“It’s a very important school for the community, and we’re very happy to do whatever we can for them,” Mr. Pascucci said.
