Fischer’s second 39Shocks and Saves39 game includes partnership with

The Saginaw News’s Mark Constantine discusses the upcoming “Shocks and Saves” game, which will be held by by the Saginaw Spirit and Red Wings
director of player develompent Jiri Fischer’s “Healthy Hope Foundation.” This time around, Fischer’s partnered with a local organization so that the money raised during the charity tilt will directly help Michigan communities: A year ago, in the inaugural event, they collected $30,000, and Spirit President and minority owner Craig Goslin envisions this year’s game raising upwards of $50,000. Fischer, who is still with the Red Wings as the club’s director of player development, isn’t the only former Detroit player heading to Wendler Arena for the game. Also expected to participate are Joey Kocur, Larry Murphy, Petr Klima, Mickey Redmond, Shawn Burr and Dave Lewis. “Incidents like these show how important defibrillators are,” said Colucci, who is also part of Fischer’s Healthy Hope Foundation. “Just about any lay person can use it. You simply place the pads on the chest. The machine will evaluate the cardiac situation and rhythm, and then tell you exactly what to do and how to shock the heart.” … Public ice arenas, schools and nonprofit agencies located in the Great Lakes Bay Region and northeastern Michigan who are interested in receiving an AED should contact the MCVI Foundation, (989) 754-3319. Anyone who purchases tickets for the Shocks and Saves game can expect to have fun while helping raise money for a great cause, as physicians and personnel from MCVI and MMR will lace up for the charity game. The $10 ticket is also good for the Saginaw Spirit-Owen Sound Attack game that follows.
