Footballing Tribute To Muchmissed Darren 2009: Football Match

Footballing tribute to muchmissed Darren

A FOOTBALL match has been planned to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of a keen sportsman.
Darren Quinn, a former Burnham Football Club player, died aged 25, after an accident during a ferry crossing on the way back from France. His friends and teammates have organised the Darren Quinn Memorial Football Match at the club in Wymers Wood Road, Burnham, for tomorrow (Bank Holiday Monday), with kick off at 3pm and a kids penalty shoot out at half time. The match between two teams he played for – White Horse Alexander and Golden Cross Alexander – will raise money for the charity SANDS (Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Society), a cause close to the heart of his friend Martin Brewer whose son Teddy was bore premature and died after five days. Mr Brewer, who was friends with Mr Quinn for 20 years, said: “The day will be a celebration of Darren’s life &ndash a very popular guy who played for Burnham FC and other local teams and his family will be there on the day to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of his passing away. “I have spoken to his family and they are all very supportive of having SANDS as the charity as I’m sure Darren would be. He was a very generous person. Burnham are generously donating their facilities on the day.” Post a comment
