1) Maker Faire, San Mateo. Make magazine’s Maker Faire is ground zero for the Bay Area’s crafters, robotics nerds, DIY geeks, furniture makers, and other creatives who gather each year for a two-day expo and party. You’ll find battling demolition robots, kinetic sculptures, homemade airplanes, a fully mobile steampunk mansion, clothing swaps, cupcake cars, and the world’s largest Mousetrap game. This year’s theme is an answer to President Obama’s call to remake America and build a sustainable future. Saturday, May 30, to Sunday, May 31. San Mateo Event Center. Free-$25. Info: . 2) JAMband Family Concert, San Francisco. The lively, happy, kids band, fronted by effervescent movement coach Charity Kahn, puts on a rock-your-socks-off concert in Dolores Park. Saturday, May 30, 11 a.m. Free. Info: . 3) San Francisco Girls Chorus, Berkeley. This group of girls is versatile. They will be singing everything from German Lieder by Mendelssohn to songs set to Edward Lear’s poetry, such as The Duck and the Kangaroo and The Pelican Chorus. The sidewalks along North Shattuck Avenue in the Gourmet Ghetto are the target of artists young and old, professional and greenhorn during this 13th annual festival. Also chocolate galore with chocolate mochi ice cream, chocolate truffles as well as savory chocolate mole, spicy chocolate tandori chicken, or the weirder chocolate foot massage.
