Fundraiser Held For SW Mich Boy With Rare Disease 2009: Golfers Links

Fundraiser held for SW Mich boy with rare disease

Golfers took to the links Sunday in Michigan to help a child with a very rare condition.
Lake Michigan Hills in Benton Harbor hosted a hole-in-one shoot-out to help raise money for Cameron Howard. Two-year-old Cameron has progeria — an extremely rare condition which creates accelerated aging in children. Green fees were reduced for Sunday’s event and golfers competed for a chance to win tickets to the 2010 Masters. “[We] wanted to create the education and awareness — and not everyone knows about them — so we just thought it’d be the perfect compliment. Plus, he’s in our own backyard right here in Stevensville,” says Wayne Yamaguchi of Lake Michigan Hills. Cameron is one of 15 children in the United States with progeria. Coming up on September 26th, there will be a charity run in St. Joseph, near Silver Beach, along with magicians, music and much more.
