Galston500: A Train-mendous Adventure Ahead

Full steam ahead to a family day packed with trains, entertainment, and goodwill.

This August 29, enjoy a fun-filled day at the scenic 1 km track of the Galston Valley Railway for Galston500. Whether you’re a lifelong train enthusiast or simply looking for a unique family day out, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Geek out over 5-inch scale model locomotives, cheer on the drivers as they take on the 500-lap challenge, ride miniature trains, enjoy delicious food and drinks, catch live entertainment, and vote for your favorite dressed-up team and locomotive. Proceeds from the event will support multiple sclerosis research at The Westmead Institute for Medical Research.

Hosted by the Hornsby Model Engineers Co-Op Ltd, the Galston500 is an annual event which challenges a collection of 5” Scale Model Locomotive teams to complete a combined total of 500 laps of the picturesque 1km track at the Galston Valley Railway, to raise money for Multiple Sclerosis research.

This years Galston500 will be held on Saturday 29th of August 2026. With plenty of entertainment planned for the day, both on and off the track, the public are welcome to come along, watch the challenge unfold, cheer on the drivers, and even get a ride behind some of the participating locomotives, as it continues throughout the day.

ALS is a progressive disease that gradually affects a person’s ability to move, speak, eat, and breathe.
