Get Out On The Links For Charity 2009: 2009 Tim

Get out on the links for charity

The 2009 Tim Hortons Charity Golf Tour, which features 24 fundraising events throughout Simcoe County, is well underway and most of the region’s golf
courses play host to events throughout the golf season which aid worthy charities. The tour kicked off back on May 11 as the Innisbrook Golf and Country Club was the site of an event in support of the Parkinson’s charity. Last year, the tour saw more than 3,500 golfers raise over $430,000 for area charities. Some of the other upcoming charity and fundraising events in are region are: The 12th annual Hawk Ridge Hospital Classic, in support of the Orillia Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital Foundation, will take place beginning with a shotgun start at 12:30 p. m. this coming Wednesday at the Hawk Ridge Golf and Country Club. The Chamber Classic, presented by the Orillia District Chamber of Commerce, set for Hawk Ridge next Thursday, is once again sold out, but you could still enjoy the festivities after the golf. The third annual Boston Pizza/Orillia YMCA Golf Tournament, in support of the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, is being held on Wednesday, June 17 at Hawk Ridge. Registration and a barbecue lunch begins at 11:30 a. m., with a shotgun start at 1 p. m. The cost is $125 per person, which also includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, a dinner back at Boston Pizza and lots of great prizes and giveaways. All funds raised through this event assist children and youth in our community who would otherwise be unable to participate in YMCA programs, activities and camps. Golfers can register at either the YMCA or Orillia Boston Pizza. Call the YMCA at 325-6168 for further information. The fourth annual All ‘Fore’ The Animals Golf Tournament, in support of the Orillia SPCA, will be held this year at Lake St. George on Saturday, June 20. Cost is $100 per person. For further information, contact the SPCA or drop in for an entry form.
The “Lake” will also be playing host to the third annual Gold Crown Ladies Only Tournament on June 23. All proceeds from the event go to Easter Seals. The cost is $100 per golfer and includes golf (12 holes), cart, cocktail hour, dinner and prizes. Tee-off time is 1:30 p. m.
