Books are windows to the world. They open us to a lot of possibilities and impart learnings that we will need underway. But what’s great with books, is that they can run from generation to generation without ruining their soul. Book worm or not, join the Giant Charity Bookfest hosted by Heretaunga Bookfest Charitable Trust and browse from over 100,000 books, vinyl, and CDs.
Since 1995, BookFest has become an annual gathering of book lovers all over the city, who want to collect books for the winter and for people who are keen on contributing to community projects within the Hutt Valley. Through donation drives, everyone is invited to share their resources for the benefit of the community. Before BookFest, the Heretaunga Bookfest Charitable Trust sets up a collection and drop-off areas for people wanting to make book donations for the event. Proceeds from the events will be divided among different projects and organizations, such as the Te Omanga Hospice, and the Whirinaki Whare Taonga.
BookFest is the Heretaunga Bookfest Charitable Trust’s major annual fundraising event. Many local businesses lend their support towards the organisation of BookFest resulting in a range of local Community groups directly benefiting from this combining of Community resources.
