Golf tournament to benefit cancer society

Royston LCC will hold a charity golf tournament in Hartwell, Ga., on Friday and there are still openings for four more teams.
Asden Crowe, human resources administrator for Royston, said tickets cost $200 for a team of four proceeds will go to the Hart County Relay for Life. The tournament, which starts at 1 p.m., will be held at the Hartwell Golf Course. “We are very supportive of Relay for Life,” Crowe said. “We hold numerous events within our company to raise money for Relay for Life.” Royston, which is based in Jasper, Ga., has a plant in Royston, Ga. It manufactures retail fixtures. Crowe said 14 teams are registered and 18 teams can play in the tournament. The team that wins first place will receive $240, second place team will receive $120 and third-place team $80. It is the second time the event has been at the Hartwell Golf Course, Crowe said. Katie Cullinan, community manager for the American Cancer Society, said the Hart County Relay for Life event held at Hart Middle School on May 8-9 raised more than $30,000.
She said teams can continue raising money until August and she is grateful that Royston is putting on the golf tournament.
