Grannies Give Back 2009: Granny Basketball

Grannies give back

Granny basketball players compete under 1920s and 1930s rules for female athletes.
Running and jumping are prohibited. Players are dinged with a technical foul if they show any skin beyond their faces or lower arms – hence the motorcycle grannies’ white-and-black bloomers with high orange socks. Six granny basketball teams plan to face off beginning at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 1, at Indianola High School. The event is free and open to the public freewill donations will be accepted. All proceeds will go to charity, Carlson said. AARON W. JACO/RECORD-HERALD STAFF
