Great Aloha Run Celebrates 25 Years of Community Service

The Great Aloha Run marked its 25th anniversary today, which means 25 years of giving back to the community.
Since it began in 1985, the Great Aloha Run has brought runners by the thousands, to make the trek from Aloha Tower to Aloha Stadium, which is just over eight miles. There’s something about the race that just makes people want to come back for more. “It’s so much fun, it’s one of the biggest races in Hawaii and there’s so many people and such a great crowd along the route. I thought it would be fun to try again,” said one participant. “I just like the adrenaline rush and all the people and it’s just fun,” said another participant. So much fun, that some runners have participated in all of them. At 70 years of age, Ed Gayagas isn’t about to miss the event’s silver anniversary.
“It’s such an interesting run. A great time for bonding with the family, I have a whole family here,” said Gayagas.
