Harry Under The Hammer At Ball 2009: Lucky Scoop

Harry under the hammer at ball

One lucky person will scoop a signed set of her work this Friday – if they dig deep at a charity auction.
The auction, to raise money for the Prince’s Trust, will take place at the Capgemini Black and White Ball in Glasgow’s Hilton Hotel. Amy Sieweke, founder of the event said: “We have been delighted with Ms Rowling’s incredible support. A signed box set of the seven Harry Potter books is such a generous donation and even the bubble wrap they came in is biodegradable, which fits in with the aims of the ball.” The event, Glasgow’s first ever carbon neutral ball, hopes to increase awareness of the urgent need for environmental change and at the same time raise funds for youth charity The Prince’s Trust. They hope to achieve carbon neutrality through offsetting all carbon emissions generated by the event by investing in an environmental project. The Prince’s Trust charity gives practical and financial support to young people, developing their confidence and motivation.
Geraldine Gammell, director of The Prince’s Trust Scotland said: “I am very grateful to JK Rowling for supporting the Capgemini Black and White Ball for the second year running. The box set of Harry Potter books will be much sought
after on the night and hopefully will mean we can raise even more money this year.”
