Hartsons Sister Sets Herself Apart In Race 2009: Involved Competitors

Hartsons sister sets herself apart in race

Get involved COMPETITORS carried a bag of cement to the top of Swansea’s highest point in the annual Kilvey Hill Cement Run yesterday.
The women’s event was won by Swansea Council worker Vicki Hartson, 28, sister of ex-Wales footballer John Hartson, who was first to complete the mile-long course. Also competing in yesterday’s gruelling event were mother and son team Sue Benfield, 51, and Matthew Davies of Loughor, Swansea. Sue, a nurse at Swansea’s Garngoch Hospital, came second in the women’s race while Swansea Council worker Matthew, 29, was 25th in the men’s. He said: “It was not easy as the rain decided to come down but there were plenty of people there and we raised a lot of money for charity. Hats off to my mother in the women’s event, who came second despite competing against younger runners.” The run up to the top of Kilvey Hill, which overlooks Swansea, was started 20 years ago by popular amateur boxer, the late Nigel Page.
