The House of Worship Church of God in Christ in Jacksonville wants to see the “Extreme Makeover” prize money it won continue to grow
to help the community. Vanessa Tyus, a foster parent and homeless advocate, was selected as the winner of $5,000 from ABC NewsChannel 20 in Springfield as part of an “Extreme Makeover: American Dream Edition” promotion. She then named her church, the House of Worship, as the charity of her choice, to also win $5,000. The church, with the help of ABC NewsChannel 20 and WYMG radio station, is hosting “Community Day” this coming Saturday at Community Park in Jacksonville. House of Worship is hoping to raise funds at the event to purchase a new building to expand its mission work locally.
