Jenny Ogwen joins charity teddy bears picnic at Coleg Glan Hafren

Get involved SUPERTED, Barney and a host of other teddies came to a South Wales college for a charity tea party.
The cuddly special guests joined the children and television presenter Jenny Ogwen at Coleg Glan Hafren’s nursery in Cardiff for the event, which raised more than &pound700 for Save the Children. The international charity is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year. And as a birthday present it is appealing for fundraising events to be organised to ensure it can continue to save the lives of children around the world. Kathy Pickett, Meithrinfa Glan Hafren nursery manager said: “My staff have been immense in working with the children to learn and practice all the songs they performed for Jenny Ogwen and the Save the Children staff. The children had a huge amount of fun and had their faces painted as a small reward for the hard work they put into the day.” Thanking the children and staff for their efforts, Jessica Evans, Save the Children’s community fundraising executive in Wales, added: “Ten million children die before their fifth birthday worldwide every year. The shocking reality behind these figures is that most of these children are dying of causes that are treatable or preventable such as malaria, diarrhoea and pneumonia.” Help us make the news – contact us with your stories, pictures and videos …
