Jet Li, star of The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, has urged the people of China to commit to charity, and will spend the next year working for his foundation rather than on films.
The martial arts magician spoke to people last week about charity giving, ‘Speaking politely, our charitable institutions are 20 years behind our economic development.’
He has turned down two major offers to remain focused on humanitarian issues, through The One Foundation.
Jet Li has called on Chinese people to donate just one yuan ($1) a month to charity as an ongoing long term solution to the problem.
