Woodstock in the hunt at 2009 candlepin bowling finals The Woodstock Bowlacade squad is setting the pace at the 2009 N.B.
Men’s Candlepin Bowling Championship, which will continue this weekend at the Kingswood Lanes in Fredericton. The perennial powerhouses took 20 of a possible 24 points on Tuesday, and an additional 14 points on Wednesday, to sit first overall in the event’s Alpine Division standings after four days of play with a 62-8 record. Woodstock also had the High Three of 1896 in Tuesday’s action, with Peter Kidney leading the way in the early going for the local side with a 124.78 average. Preliminary round play, which continued yesterday (Thursday, May 7), is scheduled to wrap up today (Friday, May 8), with a morning draw, which will be followed immediately after by the playoff round. The event’s semi-finals, and finals, go on Saturday, May 9. The Woodstock Bowlacade will also be represented this weekend at the 41st Annual N.B. Men’s Bowling Classic, set for the Cap Pele Bowling Centre Lanes.
The event will include 12 squads. Round robin play started on Wednesday and included a Thursday draw. The preliminaries are also scheduled to continue today and on Saturday. The title trophy will go to the team accumulating the most points during round robin play, as there will be no playoff round.
