Mel Brooks, Robert De Niro (pictured) and Bruce Springsteen have been awarded Kennedy Center Honors for 2009.
They join a pool of enormous talent past recipients include Clint Eastwood, Barbra Streisand, Laurence Fishburne, Christopher Plummer, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Aretha Franklin and Sidney Poitier.
The Kennedy Center Honors were held on the weekend, in front of an audience of peers including Matthew Broderick, Edward Norton, Sting, Martin Scorsese, and Philip Seymour Hoffman, and will be broadcast in the US on 29 December.
