Kenny G To Sponsor The Honda Classic ProAm 2009: Couldnt Thrilled

Kenny G to sponsor The Honda Classic ProAm

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to have an artist of Kenny G’s stature become affiliated with The Honda Classic,” Executive Director Kenneth R.
Kennerly said. “Palm Beach County is a diverse community with a lot of Kenny G fans and The Honda Classic became a natural choice for Kenny in his desire to become involved with a PGA TOUR event.” On Thursday March 5, Kenny G also will perform for the ill children at the Child Life Institute accompanied by Barbara Nicklaus. The Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation established and funds the Child Life Institute, a not-for-profit organization that provides resources, programs and services to seriously ill children and their families free of charge. The Nicklaus Foundation will purchase toy saxophones for the kids so they can try to understand Kenny’s music. It will be a throwback to the days when a young Kenny Gorelick of Seattle, Wash., discovered the saxophone one evening while watching the Ed Sullivan show and was inspired to take up the instrument. That night, Kenny G will perform a “Private” concert at the Maltz Jupiter Theater (formerly Burt Reynolds Theater) to benefit Children’s Healthcare Charity, the non-profit host organization of The Honda Classic whose primary beneficiary is the Nicklaus Children’s Health Care Foundation. Limited seating available. Tickets are $200 Orchestra / $175 Mezzanine, and include a cocktail reception. Pre-show Cocktail Reception starts at 6:30pm. Showtime is 7:30pm. Tickets are available at TheHondaClassic.com or by calling 561-575-2223 or 800-445-1666. Kenny G also will make a television appearance during NBC’s national coverage of the tournament and will perform on the 18th green following the completion of play on Sunday and leading up to the champion’s trophy presentation. For the past two decades, Kenny G has established himself as the biggest-selling instrumental musician of the modern era, with global sales totaling more than 75 million albums. He has collaborated with the likes of Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole, Toni Braxton and Frank Sinatra. His album Breathless was the biggest selling instrumental record in U.S. history with more than 12 million records sold in the U.S. alone. His 1994 holiday album Miracles is the best-selling holiday album of all-time. In between making music, Kenny G often finds his way to the golf course. In December 2006, Kenny claimed the No. 1 ranking in Golf Digest’s “Top 100 in Music” list, with an impressive +0.6 handicap. The 2009 edition of The Honda Classic will be played March 2-8 at PGA National Resort & Spa.
Individual daily tickets can be purchased for $15 (Tuesday and Wednesday), $30 (Thursday and Friday) or $40 (Saturday and Sunday).
