LINDSAY-For the seventh straight year, participants in the Kawartha Kids Ride for Charity will attempt to help local children in need get to summer
camp. The Ride, which is in support of the Kawartha-Haliburton’s Children’s Foundation, was developed by local resident William Hancock. Hancock, a motorcycle enthusiast, toldThe Lindsay Postafter years of taking part in events such as Ride for Sight, he decided to create his own fundraiser in which all the monies would go to the local community. “I wanted to be part of something that helped here in our own area,” he said. Hancock said the Kawartha- Haliburton Children’s Aid Society pointed them towards the Children’s Foundation and the partnership has bloomed every since, with the event growing every year. According to Hancock, the goal for the Kawartha Kids Ride for Charity has always been to help every child protected by Children’s Aid in the area get to go to summer camp for one week.
“These kids have gone through hell, they didn’t ask to be treated this way,” he said. “So it’s important they get to experience things a normal childhood would bring.”
