Langdon Farms Golf Club reports donation to Oregon Food Bank

AURORA, Ore.
— Usually the men and women associated with charity golf tournaments are asking others to donate to a charitable cause. That role was reversed recently at ‘s annual event coordinators day when the actual tournament coordinators reached into their own pockets to give to the Oregon Food Bank. Over $1,500 was raised for the Oregon Food Bank utilizing Langdon Farms Golf Club’s new Helicopter Ball Drop program. Langdon Farms has taken the idea of the usual event raffle or 50/50 drawing to a higher level. In fact it is so high they employ a helicopter to make it work. The expert staff of tournament professionals at Langdon Farms is providing an innovative option to help raise funds weeks or even months before an actual charitable golf tournament is held. Using a helicopter, numbered golf balls are placed in a container and dropped from the helicopter onto a golf green creating a new version of a closest to the pin contest. Prizes are awarded to the person who’s golf ball ends up the closest to the pin or if there is a hole in one. At the event, Langdon Farms tournament coordinators unveiled their Ball Drop concept and in the process raised over $1500 that was donated to the Oregon Food Bank. “As the economy gets tighter you need to be more creative to raise funds for charity” said Rene Krause, Sales Manager at Langdon Farms Golf Club. “Whether it is through our Charity All Stars program or our new Ball Drop program, we can show a charitable group planner how to net anywhere from $3500 up to $10,000 before the golf tournament even tees off!” added Krause.
