LEGEND PERFORMS FOR HIS SHOW ME CHARIT

Wyclef Jean, NAACP president and CEO Benjamin Jealous, former New York Giants player Tiki Barber, top economist Jeffrey Sachs and others were on hand
for the event, which promotes the message that individuals have to step up to change the circumstances of the poor. “Our organization by itself can’t do it, but we believe we can be part of the solution and we don’t want to wait around for everybody else to do it,” he told the Associated Press in an interview. “We’re funding a village in Tanzania and we’re seeing positive results on the ground that show that our work is making a positive impact over there, and if we were just to replicate that throughout the world, we can see a lot of progress made,” Legend said. The event raised about $300,000 through a private auction.
The outing, which launches June 27 in Muskegon, WI, now has the singer/songwriter/pianist on the road through the Austin City Limits Festival Oct. 2-4. Stops were added in Milwaukee, WI (6/28) Hollywood, FL (7/9 and 7/19) Indianapolis, IN (7/28) Cleveland, OH (8/1) New York (8/13) Santa Barbara, CA (9/5) and Honolulu (9/12), among others.
