Nonprofits Joe Alexander, a NBA player for the Milwaukee Bucks and a graduate of Linganore High School, will be honored at a jersey retirement
ceremony at the school in May. Alexander played varsity basketball for the Lancers and continued his basketball career at West Virginia University before turning pro, according to a press release from the school. The ceremony will be held as part of the National Honor Society charity event featuring a student vs. teacher basketball game on May 11. The event begins at 6 p.m. and doors to the gym will open at 5:15 p.m. Limited autograph signing will be available following the event in the school dining room. Tickets for the event are general admission and will go on sale today. Ticket cost is $3 per person. All proceeds will be used to benefit local food banks, according to the release. People are encouraged to bring canned food donations that night as well.
