Region – The eighth annual Karyn Polito Charity Golf Tournament, which will again benefit Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services and the Westborough Food Pantry,
will be held at 11 a.m., Monday Aug. 10 at Pleasant Valley Country Club in Sutton. “This is easily one of the most rewarding events I am involved in every year,” said State Rep. Karyn E. Polito, R-Shrewsbury, “and it’s because of the community’s support of and involvement in the tournament. It’s nice to be able to continue a fun tradition that helps local communities, especially in these difficult economic times.” Through the first seven years of the Karyn Polito Charity Golf Tournament more than $150,000 has been raised and distributed to Shrewsbury Youth and Family Services and the Westborough Food Pantry Shrewsbury rowing team headed to nationals For the third time in the last four years, the Shrewsbury High boys rowing team has qualified to compete in the U.S. Rowing National Championships, to be held in Cincinnati, Ohio, June 12 through 14. The Colonials accomplished the feat this year thanks to the third-place finish of the boat piloted by Matt Kneece, Charles Wu, Sid Angelou, Tom Ford and James Glynn, in the Northeast Mid-Atlantic Junior District Rowing Championship. For their eff orts, the quintet received bronze medals. The Northeast Mid-Am Championship was held May 16 and 17 on Shrewsbury High’s home course, Lake Quinsigamond.
