League, 3 National teams LaGrange, Ky. — The 2009 Derby City Soccer Academy and Coaching Seminar, set for June 26-28, 2009 in Louisville, is taking applications for the only open training session in the U.S. this year to feature professional coaches with every level of global playing and coaching experience. Chris Ramsey, Director of Player Development for the Tottenham Hotspur of England’s Premiership (league,) will headline the coaching staff. He will be joined by Tim Mulqueen, of the U.S. Men’s National Team and the U.S. Olympic team and Mark Watson, player/manager of the national champion Charleston Battery and the Canadian Men’s National Soccer Team, among others. The event is considered a trial for 10 first-division leagues around the world, as well as national teams from three countries. This event is unique and unprecedented in this country.
Just 64 male players between the ages of 15 and 18 (as of June 26, 2009) will be enrolled in the Academy Class of 2009 – delivering a “boutique” experience for young players never before available in this country.
