Man accused of pocketing money from fundraiser

Associated Press – February 12, 2009 11:54 AM ET AURORA, Colo.
(AP) – A man who organized a charity poker tournament for a bereaved family has been arrested on charges of pocketing the money. The Dec. 7 event was a supposed to raise money for the family of 3-year-old Marten Kudlis, who was killed Sept. 4 when a pickup crashed into an Aurora shop where he was getting an ice cream cone. Aurora police have arrested the tournament organizer, 30-year-old Matthew William Keysacker, on suspicion of theft by deception. Keysacker told the Aurora Sentinel in Thursday’s editions he was not guilty of the charge. The Sentinel says court documents show the event raised nearly $3,500.
The documents say Marten Kudlis’ father, Marat Kudlis, complained to police that the event used his son’s name but the family didn’t get any of the money.
