The entry titled “Manos de Cristo gets lots of love.” Anyone who knows me knows that galas aren’t my favorite thing in the world,
mostly because I have to dress up and my party wardrobe is … lacking Yeah, let’s go with “lacking.” Still, I managed to pull it together enough to attend on Friday Manos de Cristo’s annual gala, All You Need Is Love. Manos — an Austin charity that provides needy people with food, clothing, dental care and educational programs — hosted the event at the Renaissance Austin Hotel in the Arboretum. More than 250 people showed up for food (chicken), music (the Sophisticates) and a live and silent auction. The auctions brought in $15,400, more than double last year’s total.
So now that I’ve found a decent outfit to wear to parties, maybe I can go out more often. Of course, I plan to wear the same outfit every time. Hopefully, everyone will pretend not to notice.
