A portion of ticket sale proceeds from the black-tie ceremony and dinner usually went to charity. Cindy Morris, the Market Center’s chief operating officer, issued this statement: “The Dallas Fashion Awards, which traditionally take place in October of each year, have been suspended for 2009. Input from exhibitors and from manufacturers has led us to the conclusion that for the remainder of 2009 we should focus 100 percent of our resources on our core mission: bringing more buyers to market and providing the best market experience.
