Mecca Bingo will be holding a Bridal Bingo event in Sheffield on Valentine’s Day this week, where bingo fans have been invited to dig
out their wedding dresses once more and wear them in aid of raising funds for their choosen charity this year &ndash Whizz Kidz. The Mecca Bingo bridal bingo fundraiser is sure to be a marital act but with a bit of a twist as it will see up to 100 ladies dressed up in their bridal gowns with their bridesmaids, walk the streets of Sheffield as they head to the Mecca Bingo Club situated on Flat Street. This is another great fundraising drive that has been lined up by and their staff as they continue with their Whizz Kidz charity initiatives in some great fun themed events. The General Manager of the Mecca Bingo club in Sheffield, Sarah Whittaker, said, “A woman’s wedding dress is often the most expensive and glamorous gown in her wardrobe and what’s the use of that if you only get to wear it once! We wanted to hold a Valentine’s fundraising event with a difference – a room full of brides playing bingo is certain to make an impact. “We’ll be holding a special charity flyer game on the night and our team members will also be collecting donations. Anyone interested in coming along need only fish their wedding dress out from the back of their wardrobe and head down on the 14th &ndash we’re expecting a bevy of beautiful brides at both the afternoon and evening sessions.” Ruth Owen, who is the Chief Executive of Whizz-Kidz, said, “We are absolutely thrilled with the enthusiasm and inventiveness of all Mecca team and club members in 2008, in raising over a quarter of a million pounds to support young wheelchair-users’ independence. Disabled children stand virtually no chance of getting a powered wheelchair on the NHS. Through Mecca Bingo’s funding of powered and manual wheelchairs and training, more children now have the opportunities previously denied them. Please help us raise even more money to make real differences to young lives.” You have got to take your hats off to Mecca Bingo, their employees and players, because even though times are hard at the moment, they continue to give their support to others that need it the most and this latest bridal bingo fundraising event, sounds like it will be a lot of fun, whilst raising even more funds for the Whizz Kidz charity.
