Memorial Football Matches Will Raise Thousands 2009: Dozens Footballers

Memorial football matches will raise thousands

Dozens of footballers will pull on their boots as a tribute to Jim and Marjory Scott, from Paisley, who died instantly when the car
they were travelling in smashed head-on into a lorry in Croatia. Jim and Marjory, who were both aged 52 and lived in Conval Way, Paisley, had flown to Croatia on June 13, 2006, to enjoy a dream holiday. But tragedy struck just three days into their two-week break when the people carrier they were being driven in was crushed by a refrigerated truck heading in the opposite direction. A total of six people were killed &ndash Jim and Marjory, the bus driver, an Irish woman and a Belgian couple. The fundraising football tournament has been organised by the couple’s daughter Sarahjane and Jim’s brother Robert. Five-a-side teams will compete for the Jim and Marjory Scott Memorial Trophy, with all proceeds going towards two charities close to their hearts &ndash Breast Cancer Awareness and Guide Dogs for the Blind. The event takes place at the Five on 5 pitches, at the Pro-Life Fitness Centre, in Paisley, on Sunday, June 14.
Sarahjane, of Shortroods, Paisley, said: “There isn’t long for people to enter a team for the event but it can all be done by e-mail.
